In Part 3 of our road trip to ToyotaFest, you’ll recall that I didn’t have the good sense to stay out of San Francisco Bay. Well, on this day we’d all end up wet (and not regret it for a second). We got to the house where we were crashing about 1:45am, so day 3 didn’t get moving until 10. And even then, it never really got moving too fast. Perfect.

It was hot, sunny, and fantastic in Southern California. After a quick lunch at Chronic Taco (the best taco you will ever eat made by a white guy), we made good use of the pool at our disposal. We learned that it is possible to cannonball in unison, cannonball from a fence 20 feet away from the pool, and cannonball sideways, backward, and upside down. We also learned that white boys from Washington burn like a marshmallow dropped in a campfire, and all were pink as cosmopolitans by evening.

Yep, it was a slooooow day. We capped it with a gourmet feast in the kitchen that fueled us for another nighttime detailing session, in preparation for the show the next day. Griot’s products were strewn about the garage, wax was left to cure, and with heavy eyes (and vodka tonics) we drifted into the night in the glow of The World’s Fastest Indian.

5:00am would come for us, and we were ready to meet it.

Next Installment: 5:00 came, and we weren’t ready…
