It’s drought season, and with water restrictions becoming more common, I’m sure you’ve seen a flood (forgive the pun) of waterless car washes hitting the market. As you may be, I was very skeptical. Washing my car without water? Are you nuts?!?!! However, now that I understand and have used them, let me say… I am a believer!
The idea behind safely removing dirt from your paint (with any type of car wash) is to provide lubrication that lifts contaminants, allowing them to glide off the surface instead of being drug across it.
Griot’s Garage has developed Spray-On Car Wash using similar lubricants to those found in a traditional car wash. When the product is misted onto the paint, it encapsulates the dirt and lifts it from the surface. As you gently wipe the product off with a special micro fiber towel, the dirt is trapped deep in the towel’s fibers and removed from your paint.
Check out the video on this page to see Richard Griot describe the process.
P.S. Like all Griot’s Garage car care products, Spray-On Car Wash is formulated and bottled in-house, so you won’t find it anywhere else!

I forgot to add a great practice is to use one micro fiber to lift the contaminants and a second to dry the wash off.

This is a GREAT product!! Worked wonders this last winter with all the deicer on my car. It cut through all the grime, didn’t leave a single scratch! And… at the same time left behind an amazing shine.
I love this stuff!

I love to use this for cleaning the door jambs. Gets all of the odd dirt and grime build up without getting any water inside my car!

I haven’t watched the vid but the one thing I would say is: don’t skimp on the microfiber towels! I use 6 on my paint and 2 more for the wheels.
