“Tired of paying $150 to see 150 identical Ferraris? Concours d’LeMons costs 20 bucks and has 20 Pacers and Pintos.” So reads the marketing teaser for a gathering of the automotive world’s most awesomely abominable creations. Heading to Monterey this weekend? Leave your straw hat in the Bentley and check out some real rides.
A quick glance at the classes for the inaugural Concours lets you know this ain’t no wine-and-cheese affair. Though InMyGarage won’t be in attendance, we’ll be waiting with baited breath to see which woeful rides take home the “Needlessly Complex Italian” and the “Soul-Sucking Japanese Appliance” honors.
The Concours d’LeMons, put on by the same guys who brought us the legendary Billetproof hot rod show and the wildly successful 24 hours of LeMons, appears set to continue in those traditions… injecting a little fun into this sometimes stuffy hobby, and generally being a thorn in the side of the automotive elite.
Check it out if you’re in the Monterey area this weekend. And if you get any great shots of shag vans or ill-advised kit cars, send ‘em in so we can share your misery with the world!
