A New Garage! Part 1: The Announcement

Griot's Garage

In 1990, Richard Griot mailed the first Griot’s Garage handbook from a small office in Vista, California. That catalog struck a major chord with automotive enthusiasts, and in 1994 Richard relocated the company to a larger facility in Tacoma, Washington. Well, we’re still growing, and we’re on the move again!

The current Tacoma office initially housed the entire Griot’s Garage operation, including product formulation, bottling, and distribution. In 2004, those functions were transferred to a beautiful facility in Plainfield, Indiana. Now, it’s time for the corporate office (also home to our customer service center and flagship retail store) to get new digs, too!

Watch InMyGarage for stories about our “barn find” of a building, the vision for turning it into a concours showpiece, and updates throughout the build. You’ll be an insider as we start having fun in our new garage!

The current Griot's Garage HQ houses corporate offices, a retail store, a large Car Care School, and research & development facility. The new HQ will expand all of the above, and allow us to serve all our customers (and the local community) to even higher standards!

So where will the new digs be located? Washington or Indiana?

    • Mike Says:

Jason… Check the tag. We’re staying in Tacoma, and excited to be building a true car-guy destination for this city!

      • Sally in Indiana Says:

Can’t believe you opted to stay in Tacoma. What’s WA got that IN doesn’t??

Okay, so a giant mountain. And the Sound. And majestic trees instead of flat soybean fields. And none of that suffocating humidity.

Hmm. Any room for a little efficiency apt in that new garage?

        • TK Says:

Can’t believe you picked Indiana. I was forced to live in that nocturnal flat land for 3 years some time ago, ish, dismal. Tacoma is a beautiful area, don’t live there but have traveled there on business, very scenic. You better rust proof every metal item and vehicle you own now to save them from the salty tin worms. It doesn’t sound like you lived in the bottom half of Indiana at all. Southern Indiana is quite different.

Plus, the Sound area does not get as cold as Indiana.
