Vintage Racing Celebrated At June Caffeine & Gasoline

Vintage Racing Celebrated At June Caffeine & Gasoline

Vintage Racing was the battle cry at the June Caffeine & Gasoline and the place was rockin’. A suitably loud and visceral  McLaren CanAm car was fired up twice during the morning. We were impressed with the number, quality, and diversity of the custom cars and trucks that rolled into the Griot’s Garage parking lot.

Feuer Rettungswagen: 1963 VW Single Cab Fire Rig

Feuer Rettungswagen: 1963 VW Single Cab Fire Rig

This ain’t your granddad’s flower power festooned VW Bus. This 1963 single-cab is an all-original vintage fire rescue rig straight from the homeland: Historischer Loschzug Pelfum, Germany. It’s complete down to the last fitting and owner, Jason A., told us with a chuckle that the pump almost out-powers the Bus: Pump 36, Bus 40. Yikes.

First responders are the most important part of our community. Griot’s Garage chose May 3rd to pay tribute to these heroes by opening our doors to all things first responder. Stampeding Mustangs Dominate Caffeine & Gasoline

The deep and distinctive V8 roar of two dozen free revving Mustangs shook the trees and echoed through the neighborhood at our April Caffeine & Gasoline. Griot’s Garage was overrun with ponycars as we paid tribute to 50 years of the Mustang. The coordinated group fire-up sent owners scurrying to their cars to get in on the action.

Porsche Fire-Up Highlights Caffeine & Gasoline

Porsche Fire-Up Highlights Caffeine & Gasoline

March was Porsche month at Griot’s Garage. To celebrate, Max RPM Motorsports unleashed the fury, firing up tuned Porsches to the delight of a soggy but enthusiastic crowd. Our victims were a pair of 997 twin turbo 911s. One was a 900-horsepower monster that had yet to be fully tuned. The other pumped out about 600 horsepower.

Our towels pack away so much water even camels get envious, but exactly how absorbent are they? I was charged with finding this truth, and it isn’t as self-evident as one would expect. Monster Truck Fire-Up Jolts Caffeine & Gasoline

Monster Truck Fire-Up Jolts Caffeine & Gasoline

The glass of the Griot’s Garage storefront was shakin’ to near-breakage levels when our honorary master of ceremonies, Survivor, fired its blown, alcohol-burning V8 to life. It woke the neighbors on three separate occasions as the crowd, many whom had to cover their ears in haste, couldn’t get enough of the imposing pickup.

Top 10 Wheel Cleaning Tips and Tricks

Top 10 Wheel Cleaning Tips and Tricks

Wheels are a focal point of any automobile, so keeping them sharp and shiny is key. You never get a second chance to make a first impression! The task can be especially challenging because wheels get dirtier (and do so faster) than any other part of your car. There are two main culprits; brake dust and road grime.
