Event Coverage: Shinefest Pride & Perfection Car Show

Two down, three to go. Our Shinefest car show series kept the gleam alive last Sunday as the parking lot was full of cool cars and the sun was in full effect. It was the second of the five shows we have planned for this season and there was an intoxicating mix of vehicles in attendance. Check out the results.

Shinefest trophies are awarded based on the votes of people who have registered their vehicles for the event. Winning by the vote of your peers is special and it was great to see show entrants wandering the grounds doing their due diligence. Seven of the eight classes are voted on, the Best Detailed award is decided by the vote of Griot’s Garage staffers.

The Best Detailed winner at the June 4th show was Frank Perales and his pristine 1969 Camaro Z28. The Fathom Green Camaro had the pedigree as well. It has been IAAA Certified by Jerry MacNeish at Camaro Hi-Performance and was once owned by Legendary Motorcar, a collector car broker in Ontario, Canada, and host of Velocity network’s aptly named TV show, Legendary Motorcar.Ron Mustain took home Best Truck honors in his 1948 Chevy pickup.Best Import accolades went to Dennis Saxon who was displaying his 1964 Austin Healey.Bob Mahler’s 1930 Ford Roadster got the votes in the Best Hot Rod class.

The tally sheet showed that Larry Hyndman’s 1950 Ford Woody came out on top in the Best Classic category.

Perhaps inspired by the Mad Max movie franchise David Dennis took home the Best Orphan trophy for his wide-and-mean 1974 Ford Mercury Capri.

Speaking of movie franchises the Best Exotic award went to none other than Bruce Wayne. His 1954 A6 GCS Maserati Barchetta Spyder replica.

Best Muscle Car was awarded to John Whidbey for his stout 2012 Camaro. The next Shinefest extravaganza is July 2 so come on by and make Griot’s Garage part of your Fourth of July festivities. Wanna go on a binge? We will be hosting our monthly Caffeine & Gasoline event on Saturday the 1st and our theme will be All American.
