Lanzante Motorsport To Build 11 F1-Engined Porsche 930s

Many have dreamed of building the ultimate Porsche 911. There are a number of over the top builders that can lay claim to such a title… Ruf, RAUH-Welt Begriff (RWB), and Singer come to mind. But taken in the context of pure performance, they may well be taking a back seat to Lanzante Motorsport and their Formula 1 powered limited-edition 930s.

The British tuning house, famous for its modified, street legal McLaren F1 and P1 GTRs, announced at the recent Rennsport Reunion VI that it will be constructing 11 truly unique automobiles. The company recently purchased a gaggle of ‘80s-vintage TAG twin-turbo V6 Formula 1 engines. We are talking the actual engines that powered McLarens in the heat of battle. Each of the masterpieces will be fitted with a twin-turbo 1.5-liter TAG-Porsche TTE PO1 powerplant, which McLaren reports generates 750 to 850 horsepower.

Each car will have the lineage of its engine captured for posterity on plaques that denote its engine number, the chassis it was in, and a VIN, as well as its race history. No doubt the cost of these beasts will rival most lotto jackpots, but we love the outside-the-box-thinking that Lanzante has shown here.
