Our Detail Wagen Delivers The Goods At SEMA

We built the Griot’s Garage World’s Fastest Detail Wagen for the SEMA trade show. Standing out in a sea of flashy cars was a tall order because it would take a keen eye to notice the BMW’s subtle, well-executed customizations. Still, we hoped our two-door M3 wagon conversion would be noticed. Boy, did our dreams come true.

The Detail Wagen was a smash. It garnered accolades from show-goers and feature write-ups from the likes of Road & Track, Carscoops, BMW.SG, Razao AutoMovel, Motorpasion, and the BMW Car Club Great Britain. It was refreshing to see that people still recognize and appreciate attention-to-detail and quality craftsmanship.

Stay tuned… In the coming weeks we will be chronicling all that quality craftsmanship, taking you behind the scenes to reveal how the Bimmer’s transformation was pulled off. We will show you the car from its raw 1989 325ix roots to its M3 wagon glory. You’ll also see how we added V8 power to the equation via a 540i/six-speed manual swap.

Have fun in your garage!

  1. Great car! It was my favorite at SEMA. Yes, of all the flashy cars at SEMA, I liked yours the best. Love the V8-MT6 combo. Even going to two doors?!

Shout out to Jeff Brown who I saw at the Mobile Tech Show last week. You guys had the best looking booth at the show.

  2. Thanks for the kind words Kurt! We are gearing up to kick off our build-up articles and the amount of work that went into this Bavarian is crazy. Stay tuned.
