Car Culture: What Is An Orphaned Car?

Car Culture: What Is An Orphaned Car?

Car shows can cater to all types and genre of vehicles. On-road or off road, American muscle or tuners, even Fords or Chevys. But what is a car show for discontinued and orphaned cars? And how are cars orphaned? We have a show for these neglected rides here at Griot’s every year. These are the forgotten cars of yesteryear… rides that the aftermarket bypassed in a big way, leaving them with no go-fast parts… and in dire circumstances limited replacement parts.

Event Coverage: September Caffeine & Gasoline

Event Coverage: September Caffeine & Gasoline

Our Caffeine & Gasoline events happen the first Saturday of every month and September is usually well attended because summer is coming to a close. This means it may be the last chance to take that special car out for a cruise… It was game on for the September 7th event. We went through 60 dozen donuts in 60 minutes… and we cut our donuts in half!

Event Coverage: June Caffeine & Gasoline

Dr. Ferdinand would have been impressed with the number of Porsches that showed up for our June Caffeine & Gasoline event. We were impressed by both the number and quality of the Porsche vehicles in attendance.

Event Coverage: Importfest – Fast, Furious, And Fun

Our first-ever Importfest went down May 25 and the day served up a great mix of Japanese imports with a sprinkling of stanced-out European cars. Bright colors, hunkered stances, bold interiors, crazy custom stereos, and serious performance were the order of the day.

Event Coverage: April Caffeine & Gasoline

Mother Nature took one last shot at us… we hope… as scattered showers tried to put a damper on our April Caffeine & Gasoline gathering. The theme was supercars and there were plenty examples of extreme motoring on display. These events are always free and open to the public and we serve up complimentary coffee and donuts in the Indy Café. Join us for our first-ever two-wheel invasion as the theme of the May 4th Caffeine & Gasoline is motorcycles… vintage, modern, and anytime in between. While bikes are the theme of this event, transportation of any kind is welcome […]

Event Coverage: March 2019 Caffeine & Gasoline

The tide has turned. After the snowiest and coldest February on record hints of spring were in the air in western Washington. Traditionally, March has been the breakthrough Caffeine & Gasoline event where the sun shines bright and shocks the cars out of their hibernation… and we kept that trend alive on March 2.

Corvettes On Point At Caffeine & Gasoline®

We welcomed the New Year at Griot’s Garage and rebel rousing Corvettes of every era took center stage. Rumbling V8s were the order of the day as Chevrolet’s halo performance marque was the theme of our Caffeine & Gasoline cruise-in car show.

Porsches Storm The Gates At Caffeine & Gasoline®

Porsches Storm The Gates At Caffeine & Gasoline®

“The car is a two-tone for a reason… it was on the lift, I wedged a 4×4 under it to balance the chassis and the thing almost fell off.” … “I pulled it out of a barn and worked on it for three weeks straight to get it running.” … “Is that supercharged?” These are a small sample of the conversation starters we overheard at the June 2 Caffeine & Gasoline®.

Ground-Shaking Dragster Fire-Up Headlines Caffeine & Gasoline

Ground-Shaking Dragster Fire-Up Headlines Caffeine & Gasoline

It was a loud and proud morning at Griot’s Garage on June 4th. We blasted the morning dew off the leaves when we fired and revved “Juvenile Delinquent,” a blown 383-inch small-block V8-powered 1947 Fiat Topolino as part of our Caffeine & Gasoline activities.

France, England Square Off At Caffeine & Gasoline

France, England Square Off At Caffeine & Gasoline

Veyron for the win! Billed as a showdown between Earl Grey tea and Grey Poupon mustard, our France versus Britain Caffeine & Gasoline event sounded like a bit of stretch on paper. I mean the French cars would be greatly outnumbered, right? But quality trumped quantity to the tune of 1,001 horsepower… Vive la France.
