Event Coverage: Importfest – Fast, Furious, And Fun

Event Coverage: Importfest – Fast, Furious, And Fun

Our first-ever Importfest went down May 25 and the day served up a great mix of Japanese imports with a sprinkling of stanced-out European cars. Bright colors, hunkered stances, bold interiors, crazy custom stereos, and serious performance were the order of the day.

Ground-Shaking Dragster Fire-Up Headlines Caffeine & Gasoline

Ground-Shaking Dragster Fire-Up Headlines Caffeine & Gasoline

It was a loud and proud morning at Griot’s Garage on June 4th. We blasted the morning dew off the leaves when we fired and revved “Juvenile Delinquent,” a blown 383-inch small-block V8-powered 1947 Fiat Topolino as part of our Caffeine & Gasoline activities.

France, England Square Off At Caffeine & Gasoline

France, England Square Off At Caffeine & Gasoline

Veyron for the win! Billed as a showdown between Earl Grey tea and Grey Poupon mustard, our France versus Britain Caffeine & Gasoline event sounded like a bit of stretch on paper. I mean the French cars would be greatly outnumbered, right? But quality trumped quantity to the tune of 1,001 horsepower… Vive la France.

Cars Of Europe Impress At August Caffeine & Gasoline

We were impressed with the collection of outstanding cars that rolled into the Griot’s Garage parking lot as we celebrated Europe’s finest automobiles at our August 2nd Caffeine & Gasoline. Rare, high-end rides from the likes of BMW, Porsche, Mercedes Benz, and Lamborghini dotted the parking lot and concours lawn.

American Muscle In Spotlight At Caffeine & Gasoline

American Muscle In Spotlight At Caffeine & Gasoline

Cars are freedom. I remember how my first car, a six-cylinder ’67 Camaro, opened up my world, giving me the ability to go anywhere at any time. I’ve always thought this realization of freedom was one of the driving forces behind America’s love affair with the automobile. So the Fourth of July holiday is a great time for a car show.

Vintage Racing Celebrated At June Caffeine & Gasoline

Vintage Racing Celebrated At June Caffeine & Gasoline

Vintage Racing was the battle cry at the June Caffeine & Gasoline and the place was rockin’. A suitably loud and visceral  McLaren CanAm car was fired up twice during the morning. We were impressed with the number, quality, and diversity of the custom cars and trucks that rolled into the Griot’s Garage parking lot.

First Responders Honored At Caffeine & Gasoline

First Responders Honored At Caffeine & Gasoline

First responders are the most important part of our community. Griot’s Garage chose May 3rd to pay tribute to these heroes by opening our doors to all things first responder. The display was full of police and fire vehicles and there were some interesting rescue and military rides in the parking lot.

Porsche Fire-Up Highlights Caffeine & Gasoline

Porsche Fire-Up Highlights Caffeine & Gasoline

March was Porsche month at Griot’s Garage. To celebrate, Max RPM Motorsports unleashed the fury, firing up tuned Porsches to the delight of a soggy but enthusiastic crowd. Our victims were a pair of 997 twin turbo 911s. One was a 900-horsepower monster that had yet to be fully tuned. The other pumped out about 600 horsepower.

A New Garage! Part 2: The Barn Find

A New Garage! Part 2: The Barn Find

Maybe you’ve experienced something like this… You hear a rumor that there is something special nearby – lying neglected, hidden, almost forgotten. You find the spot, and coax the owner into letting you take a peek inside. The barn doors creak open and there, waiting patiently in the dark and covered with years of dust, is your next project.

A New Garage! Part 1: The Announcement

A New Garage! Part 1: The Announcement

In 1990, Richard Griot mailed the first Griot’s Garage handbook from a small office in Vista, California. That catalog struck a major chord with automotive enthusiasts, and in 1994 Richard relocated the company to a larger facility in Tacoma, Washington. Well, we’re still growing, and we’re on the move again!
