A motorsports legend like no other, New Zealander Bruce McLaren was one of the few men to do it all. He was an inventor, self-taught engineer, Formula 1 driver, skilled mechanic, race car designer, team owner, development driver, and businessman. There’s a movie about his incredible life coming out soon and we have the trailer.
Directed by Roger Donaldson, McLaren features interviews by Mario Andretti, Jackie Stewart, Chris Amon, Emerson Fittipaldi, and other notable motorsports personalities, most legends in their own right. Mario calls Bruce McLaren an artist.
The youngest F1 race winner when he took his first checkered flag, Bruce McLaren went on to dominate Can-Am racing. His team won an amazing 37 out of 43 Can-Am events between 1967 and 1970, in 19 of those victories his cars went one-two.
Tragically, Bruce lost his life in 1970 at the age of 32 when a Can-Am car he was testing spun off the Goodwood Circuit in England. The trailer, with its mix of vintage footage and current-day interviews, really set the hook and we can’t wait for the feature-length movie to come out later this year.
Have fun in your garage!
